Presented by:

Dr. Debbie Zacarian

Date & Time

Wednesday, May 4, 2016 - 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Description

Teaching effectively in diverse classrooms and building strong family-school partnerships is more complex than ever - particularly when our student and family communities represent dynamically changing cultural, linguistic, racial, and economic experiences that are different from our own. During this interactive institute, we will explore scientifically proven methods for tapping into the rich resources of teachers, students, families, the school community and the community-at-large and how this approach leads to successful outcomes for all involved. Specifically, we will explore how to:

  • Build coalitions of support around student learning and engagement
  • Develop positive and active relationships with students, their families and their communities
  • Foster positive, reciprocal partnerships
  • Promote peer-to-peer relationship building
  • Support inclusive practices for the entire community of students and families
Audience

PK-12 ESL, bilingual, classroom teachers, content teachers, specialists, coaches, supervisors and
administrators as well as teacher educators from higher education institutions and professional
developers involved with preservice and inservice work.
