Low Incidence Programs

The Low Incidence Special Interest Group (SIG) is a group for PK-12 educators working in low incidence districts in Massachusetts.

The goal of the Low Incidence SIG is to provide ongoing support to educators who struggle with implementation of state and federal mandates for English learner education due to their low numbers of ELL students. Some of our activities include

  • Sharing resources such as forms, parent manuals, translation resources, and curriculum resources.
  • Exploring topics such as second language acquisition vs. language disability, language assessment testing, getting support from administrators, CPR compliance issues, etc.
  • Getting updates on DESE initiatives and policy changes.

Meetings are open to current MATSOL Members at no charge.

  • Non-Members: Join MATSOL and choose "Low Incidence Programs" as a special interest areas.
